As a 2017 summer intern, Brent supported Living Cities’ Capital team, focusing on Living Cities’ impact investing and Pay for Success work through the Catalyst Fund and Blended Catalyst Fund.
Brent is interested in developing innovative solutions that can be scaled to help cities improve urban practice, lift people out of poverty, and reduce the racial income gap.

Prior to joining Living Cities, Brent worked at the Urban Institute’s Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center researching access to affordable housing, housing discrimination, and adapting supportive housing models to meet the needs of low-income families with children. Brent worked on several federal evaluations of performance measurement and management systems during his time at Urban.

He has also directly served homeless families seeking housing vouchers in Ottawa County Michigan and fought to preserve affordable housing developments in Chicago as a part of the Housing Justice team at the Shriver Center. Brent grew up in Michigan and completed his undergraduate degree in Political Science and Economics at Grand Valley State University. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Policy from Georgetown University.
